The Charter of the Sworn Men of House Tur’Meric
As commissioned by Lord Velka Tur’Meric of Rivensend, Keeper of the Coast and Highlord of Sandhaven
Let it be known, in the halls of stone and soil, among the wind-swept cliffs of Sandpoint and the watchful towers of Rivensend, that those who bear this mark -
the turmeric flower entwined with scroll and do so under oath and bond to House Tur’Meric, and to the ideals it upholds.
The Sworn Men are not bound by blood, nor land, nor rigid title. They are bound by duty, trust, and honour.
Let their purpose be threefold:
• To act with wisdom, seeing clearly through shadow and deception;
• To uphold justice, offering mercy to the worthy and retribution to the cruel;
• And to take action, swift and sure, when the House or the realm calls.
They shall serve as:
• Emissaries, when the word must travel faster than ships or seals;
• Shields, when the weak have none;
• Swords, when peace fails;
• Eyes, where darkness gathers unseen;
• And Hands, where none else may reach.
They are granted:
• Passage and quarter in all holdings of House Tur’Meric;
• The right to requisition what aid is required, within the bounds of prudence and fairness;
• And recognition by word, sigil, and sign, known to those within the circle of trust.
But with this authority comes a burden:
To stray from honour, to exploit the House’s name, to act without conscience - such deeds mark the end of their standing.
A Sworn Man dishonoured is no longer shielded by title or kin.
He shall be cast out, and hunted if need be.
Let this charter stand as testament to Lord Velka’s vision:
That justice must reach where armies cannot march, and aid must come where coin cannot buy it.
To bear the mark is to carry the will of House Tur’Meric,
"Not above the law, but in its service.
Not above the people, but among them."
Swear this not lightly.
For once bound, you are bound for life.
