Things are starting to fall into place for our adventurers. Finally inlocking the room with the small skeletons, they have discovered that the children they met outside are in fact deceased. Disturbing the children's things in the room brought about two small spirits that told the party a little more... revealing where the secret passage is. It is my observation that the hooded one seems to have little empathy for the situation, only wanting to get the job done whereas the bear might have so much empathy it might end up killing him.
Regardless they found the passage to the basement through a replica in the little girl's dollhouse. I had overheard that the children were locked in the upper room to save them from the monster below, but then they starved as they were forgotten about. Human children are so frail in their need to be near their parents for literal decades. The bear and slime have decided to take the remains with them... I did not hear why.
In the basement was quite the treat, not a basement at all but a crypt... many crypts actually. The incessant chanting that one hears is grating, and I am sure they, as much as I, want it to stop.
The little goblin seemed to have stepped on a sleeping grick which I thought for sure was not going to work out for him, but they did end up dispatching it. But I thought again their gooses were cooked when they stumbled into a hallway of ghouls. They seemed to have dispatched them easily enough, but almost at the cost of losing that fox fellow. He sure has a weak disposition.
For the time being, they have retreated back into a safe alcove that is empty of tombs to rest, to think.
