Nightstrum

Nightstrum is one of three major cities on the Everstar Isles. Situated in the idyllic forest of Thunderstar, Nightstrum holds a dominant position in the middle of The Everstar Isles and acts as the major trading port and travel destination. The city itself is built upon the carved out mountain range that once sat on the coast, and as such, is a tiered city with multiple different levels. The highest tower sits at a staggering 2800 meters tall, dwarfing even the highest peaks of the mountain ranges on the archipelago itself. The docks sitting at the northern side of the city are where the commerce and trading takes place, a large marketplace is built up around the harbour itself, and is typically where most of the work can be found.

As the city raises higher, the harbour gives way to many of the city's main businesses; eateries, banks, larger scale emporiums and shops sell all manner of goods to the citizens. This is also the district where most utilities and public services can be found.

The highest tier of the city is reserved for the upper class; nobility and those that serve them are given lavish accommodations and access to the city's finest services and wares. The Nightstrum Grand Spire, the place where the leadership typically reigns from, is located at this highest tier as well, though only the ground floor is used for official business and delegation, the spire itself is said to house a great and vast collection of wealth.

The city is run by a council of five nobles, each the head of their own respective family, and each holding dominion over one duty in the city. Commerce, Architecture, Port Authority, Medical, and Security Affairs are the five key components while anything else is delegated to lesser nobles.

Crime is not uncommon to a large city and Nightstrum is no exception. The lower districts are home to a great many petty thieves and small gangs, though an official thieves guild does operate in the city near the harbour. An organized group keeps the crime fair for those who work closely with the guild and serves to keep many people off of the streets, though despised by the nobles above, the guild is treated well and with great respect by the commoners.
