Joss Falkner
Joss' choice to wield guns is an obvious testament to her small and trim build. There are no remarkable disfigurements or markings on her face beyond a cut here or there, and her body has been hit with the usual mild wear and tear befitting one who partakes in occasional scuffles. Her muscles seem toned, and she excels at speed and agility when a situation calls for it, but there's nothing physically strong about her and she's easily dwarfed by most other people. That's not to say she appears fragile - she's more of a scrawny stray cat than a crushable little bird.
The smell of firepowder clings to her more than any other scent, and her face, hands and leathers are frequently smudged with some manner of soot or other. Coupled with rough palms and a thick street cant, she's prone to coming off as unrefined; when faced with authority, however, she can readily snap to the rigid posture of a soldier, back straight and jaw set.
History
A story that begins like many: a child with parents either lost or prone to abandonment, leaving her an orphaned street rat who grew up not quite treading the straight and narrow. Though she oft ran with the wrong crowd at a young age, when she was old enough to hold a weapon properly, Joss made the conscious effort to clean up her act and join a local military in First City. She picked up a gun and learned a trade, working as an apprentice mender and sharpshooter for several years.
Unfortunately, no matter the hard work put in to a more law-abiding way of life, her past caught up with her: an old associate sabotaged her position, getting her kicked out on false charges.
Now, Joss is just a young gun looking to find her way through the world, back foot planted in a world of street-wise shadows, and front foot seeking purchase on sun-warmed cobblestones.
Mechanicat
Joss is well versed in tinkering and repairs for mundane items, having spent years caring for and maintaining her own equipment, and, later, the equipment of comrades. She's eagerly curious to dig around through unfamiliar non-magick'd puzzles, traps, and trinkets to learn the ins and outs, and is more than willing to do odd jobs and far out repair-work.
Sometimes repairs require important bits, pieces, or even tools that Joss doesn't immediately have on hand. If the market doesn't bear fruit, a bit more digging is sometimes needed. She might be a decent shot, but she's a bit of a coward, and is occasionally looking to find extra muscle for scrap-hunting.
