Though never a proud sight, the swamped ruins of Gauntlight Keep now stand besieged by the roots, the walls and battlements broken and battered by nature's fury. The crumbling stones and shattered wood, I hope, are not a fate that Otari will share. The inexorable growth of the tree must have a source, but even to approach it would be a feat of daring, let alone to climb it.
A stillness hangs heavy in the air. There is an unnerving silence in the area that wasn't there before, as if even the bugs had fled. The only thing that breaks the eerie mood is the oft startling fall of stonework from the crumbling ruins, not a good trade-off if you ask me.
I swear, dark forces yet linger in the keep, and I'm not the only one who thinks so. Some of the villagers have said they hear sounds coming from the late at night, scratching and shuffling, wailing and moaning, or other foul sounds no one wants to hear.
With the report is an attached sketch.
The ruins of Gauntlight Keep have been visibly shifted, slanted walls and old construction now barely stopped from being fully submerged in the surrounding swamp. The center structure seems intact if only by the luck of a nearby root travelling the other direction. The massive tree looms in the background, obscured by the fog so heavily that the canopy can not be seen.
