He stared intently at the paper handed to him, his eyes searching the sparse information presented to him by Adelbert. A couple of crossed off forests, “mana tap” scribbled below them… He finds his eyes lingering on “The Great Forest”, his mind working overtime on how to tell the Bear what he thought it all meant. That was, until something else caught his gaze, something he recognized… A place he once knew. A sudden wave of grief caught him in his throat, one which he had to immediately push aside, taking a few seconds more than he needed to process the information. He didn’t have time to wonder how old this piece of paper was, if by now there was another with the Lo Rainard’s forest shrine crossed off, this place wasn’t safe.
“Sorry” was all he could muster, after explaining to his companions what he thought it all meant. He let the silence echo, before Adelbert’s rage, or grief, or both got the better of him. He knew he had to try and stop him… But it took him longer than usual to try.
It felt hypocritical to try and preach peace to someone who was only doing exactly what Martel wanted to do…
