BACKGROUND
Yin Ke was born on Dorin in the waning days of the Republic. Her sensitivity to the Force was identified by the Sages in her childhood, but Yin declined to join them. The Sages were recluses, and Yin wanted to be a leader in Dorin society. She apprenticed to a diplomat and learned under them, quickly becoming acquainted with the ins and outs of Dorin political society. As the Empire became more aggressive in its pursuit of Force sensitives, Yin decided that the safety place for her was where no one expected to find her: in the heart of the Empire itself.
The Kel Dor moved to Coruscant and entered the Imperial bureaucratic machine. She tried to focus on surviving alone, but she couldn’t help her personal morals. When whispers of a group that wanted to help, to act against the Empire, started to reach her ears, Yin signed on. She acted as an informant for the Rebellion, hiding in plain sight and lying to avoid attracting attention as she passed vital intel to them. When the news reached Coruscant of the Empire’s defeat, Yin celebrated with her fellow secret Rebels, raising toasts in the back rooms that had sheltered them for so many years.
She fell into the work of creating the New Republic with the other Rebels, focusing on the bureaucracy in place and how to make it work to new purposes. In the years that followed the fall of the Empire, Yin found herself on occasion working with former Rebel and new Grandmaster of the Jedi Order, Luke Skywalker. Each interaction only raised her interest in the Order, the institution so different from the old Order as it had been described to her by the Baran Do Sages. She knew in her heart that it was only a matter of time before her focus shifted to it, so Yin wrapped her current projects with the New Republic and asked Master Skywalker if she could join the Order.
Her calm demeanor and diplomatic approach helped her fit into the new organization well, and she took to the Jedi teachings easily, first rising to the rank of Knight and most recently to the rank of Master. Her work keeps her mostly in the Temple on Hosnian Prime, though she’ll join major diplomatic operations as needed in support of the Jedi under her care.
APPEARENCE
A middle aged Kel Dor woman. She is tall and slender and often stands with her hands clasped behind her back.
PERSONALITY
Yin is deceptively soft spoken and exceedingly calm, often preferring to stay back and observe a situation before deciding on approach. She will allow long silences between people speaking, completely unbothered by any awkwardness. Her defining philosophy is to gather information and consider all angles prior to taking any action, and that sometimes lies support a greater good.
SKILLSET & ROLE
Yin is a diplomat through and through and will always attempt to pursue a diplomatic solution if possible. However, she is also able to acknowledge that sometimes diplomacy isn’t possible, and you must use alternative solutions.
Yin is a decently competent saber duelist, studied in the Makashi form, though her saber is far from her first solution. She is adept at sensing the minds and motivations of others, and using the Force to influence their emotions.
