Phoenix Station

In the aftermath of Coruscant’s destruction and the conclusion of the Galactic Civil War, the New Republic faced a critical question: where would its new seat of government reside? With Coruscant unsuitable due to extensive reconstruction needs, proposals arose from numerous worlds, including Mon Cala and Chandrila, as potential candidates. Among the ideas was a rotating capital, moving the government from planet to planet on a set schedule.

However, logistical challenges, costs, and concerns about centralizing power on a non-ideal world ultimately led to the abandonment of the idea. Instead, the solution emerged as a bold innovation: a traveling space station, symbolizing the Republic’s flexibility and commitment to serving all its citizens equally. This station, Phoenix Station, would allow the New Republic government to move throughout the galaxy without burdening host planets with building temporary facilities. Over several years, the station was developed in collaboration with shipyards across the Republic, including Fondor, Mon Cala, and others.
