  1. Please provide a brief (at least one short paragraph) backstory for your character.
Though native to the planet Zolan in the Mid Rim Territories , Vas has never seen his homeworld. He was raised in the outer rim where his mother worked as a spy for various nefarious crime syndicates and private clients. Vas knew that this was not the way for him. He knew that working through intermediaries, gets you paid in chump credits, you need to be recruited by the real players. Thus he set out to infiltrate corporations and noble compounds, using a mixture of his stealth skill, his shape changing ability and good fortune. When he would be exposed, he would list all of the times that he could have assassinated someone important, stolen something valuable or planted listening devices. Clients saw the value in keeping him alive, and on their payroll.

Vas was waiting at a space port for a VIP arrival that he was to report back on. The doors opened and two men in robes walked through into the customs area, the older of the two looking straight at him. He had found that he had a natural talent for hiding things, or even himself, from sight (misdirect power) and attempted to do so, but no matter where he moved, the older man in the robes tracked his movement, smiling somewhat. Vas had also picked up a knack of being able to knock things over from afar (move power) and did so as a distraction, but the older man kept staring straight at him. He attempted to lose himself in the crowd, but backed into the younger robed man who said, "There is a better way of life you know. Come with us, and we will teach you."

  2. Why does your character want to be a jedi? The outer rim, under any government was always neglected by the core worlds. Vas saw this as very unfair, and his sense of justice was developed early on in his career. He would have been working jobs for clients until now if he hadn't run into those two jedi.

  3. Are there aspects of your character’s background (people, events, places) that were more formative to your character’s current personal development?  Well, he doesn't know really. It will be interesting to find out, and the promise of never having to scrape credits together was most enticing.

  4. Describe the kinds of personal relationships you might have had in your past? Vas's only real friend was his mother, who taught him that no one can be trusted. Turns out she was right, as she was sold out to one of the Hutts on a job gone bad and left for dead. She's probably a Hutt slave now. Better not to form attachments, they only lead to loss. People who think they know him, don't. Whilst he has a personna that he has adopted and the disguise to go along with it (some random explorer he once saw in a customs dock heading out into the unknown territories), people who have hired him have never seen the same face twice. He was simply known by the moniker "Rancor".

  5. What is most Jedi-like about your character?  What is least Jedi-like about your character? His distant nature and not wanting to form attachments or give into emotions. His complete lack of discipline.

  6. Does your character have a strong idea of the Force? Do they experience it in a certain way or is it a mystery to them? He has thought it was simply some knacks or tricks. He has no formal training. His mother couldn't do this stuff, so why suddenly he could, is a mystery to him.

  7. Some characters have dark (or great) secrets that they keep locked away from even their dearest friends. Does your character harbor a great regret or a secret aspiration that is central to their character? Not yet, but this can always be developed in play.

  8. What elements of your character are you most excited to explore, whether narrative or mechanical? I'm really enjoying the idea of playing a shape shifter spy.

  9. Does your character have a long-term plan, mechanically? He has been living job to job and scraping credits to get by. Though, now he has a home, and maybe some purpose, that may start to change.

  10. The Dark Side tempts each Jedi differently. How does it prey upon your character's emotional weakness and what makes them susceptible to it? AVas's weakness is Weariness. The outer rim was full of people who deserved a meal, or a place to sleep, or safety, but they never got it. You can't help everyone, and if you try, there is always another and another and another. He's no saint, and even if he had credits to spare, how would you decide who was the most worthy of not starving to death that day? You can't, so you keep your credits and you move along.

  11. Would you rather start your character as an Initiate or as a Padawan? Initiate.
