The Dantooine Jedi Temple, sometimes also called the Jedi Enclave or just “The Jedi Building” by the locals, is a four storey tall complex situated on the outskirts of the recently revitalised town of Khoonda. The Temple has five floors, including the ground floor, as well as a basement level below ground.
Temple Grounds
Outside of the main temple building, the Temple Grounds covers a fairly large area. Closest to the building itself is the Temple Dojo, used as the primary area for Lightsaber and combat instruction, including practice droids, state of the art training equipment and an elaborate obstacle course with various stopping points, allowing it to be used for physical training by beginners and experts alike. Training sabers are available in the Dojo to use in the Dojo. Real Lightsabers that have been donated for one reason or another and have been determined to be safe are stored here and can be accessed for training purposes, but only with the Datacard ID of the Battlemaster or certain senior Jedi. This can be waived in special circumstances.
Off to the side at various points of the course's path or in other more secluded natural areas nearby are various marked Meditation Areas, which can be used and enjoyed both in solitude or in groups, with more specific zones of these areas provided for those who may need to be alone. These areas are cleaned and maintained regularly by members of the Service Corps and Jedi volunteers when not in use.
On the opposite end of the grounds from the Dojo are the Animal Enclosures, though how much space or actual restriction each “enclosure” provides can vary wildly and is dependent on individual species and their needs in regards to space, play, stimulation and nutrition. Expert Jedi, assisted by Service Corps members, ensure that every animal staying at the Temple is properly cared for.
Ground Floor
The main entrance to the Jedi Temple contains a spacious main courtyard and visiting areas for those from outside the Order, with various sources of information and insight. Beyond these areas, much of the Temple's ground floor is taken up with the Hangar Bays, with landing bays both within the building itself and extant landing pads attached to the outside. The Hangar Bays also lead down into the main speeder garage of the temple, where land based vehicles can be easily accessed or loaded onto starships. From the ground floor, turbolifts and stairwells are spread around for easy travel to the other floors, with a Datacard ID required for access.
1st Floor
The First Floor is primarily split into two halves. The first half of the floor is taken up by the Medical Bay, which covers medical treatment, long-term care, clinical work and various other medical duties. Some of these areas, especially those areas pertaining to individuals’ medical records, are restricted to medically certified Jedi or other senior members of the Order with specific permission. This can be waived in special circumstances.
The other half of the first floor is the space used by the Jedi Archives. There are various subsections within the Archives, and though the Jedi Lorekeeper runs the Archives as a whole, each subsection is managed by an Archivist who keeps everything individually catalogued and maintained. There are various assistant archivists as well, both from the Service Corps or volunteer Jedi. The Archives, while primarily containing databooks and physical copies of information, also has holoprojectors for more visual or aural learners, with Jedi encouraged to record readings for future listeners. There are also lesson areas for classes and dedicated social or quiet reading areas.
Attached to the Archives is the HoloNet Room, where there are dedicated Holoterminals for Jedi to use, even if many younger students already have mobile HoloNet datapads. This also contains the servers for connection to the HoloNet from the Temple, as Dantooine’s more remote location requires this infrastructure.
2nd Floor
The Second Floor of the Jedi Temple is almost entirely taken up by the Dorms and Offices of the many Jedi. Upon joining the Order, those who wish to stay at the Temple will be given their own Quarters. Though they do not have to share, communal rooms are also available for Jedi who prefer roommates. Each set of quarters comes with various amenities and everything that could be needed, with adjustments able to be made for different species, temperature or climate needs.
Across from the living quarters are the Jedi Offices, which contain HoloNet Terminals, office supplies and various other materials for use in administrative work. All knights are given access to a personal office should they wish to use it, and each office contains extra Holoterminals and desks to be used by the Knight’s Padawans as required. Specific offices are also reserved for use by Jedi with extra responsibilities, such as the Jedi Masters or those managing specific areas of the temple. Though not taking up much space on the second floor, there are also various Meditation Rooms and outcroppings for gardens on this floor, with both communal garden spaces and spaces that Jedi can reserve for more personal projects.
3rd Floor
The Third Floor, also known as the Student Floor, is split into three areas. The first area is reserved for training rooms that are used in more practical lessons, primarily practical applications and uses of the force, though not exclusively. Also included are rooms for training more general and technical skills, as well as beginner lessons in the use of training sabers for younglings, at least until they are old enough for the more intense training that usually takes place in the Dojo.
The second area is composed of Classrooms and Lecture Halls, for youngling and adult learners respectively. These teaching rooms can vary in setup and size, with some being more like small break rooms for debate and discussions, with others being full halls with holoprojectors, terminals and other advanced teaching tools for use. They are used for teaching theory, running through scenarios, helping students with socialisation and more.
Lastly, the rest of the third floor is taken up by the Cafeteria and dining area attached to it, with skilled cooks and chefs from the Service Corps or volunteer Jedi providing meals of all kinds for the various Jedi and staff. The seating areas vary from simple chairs and tables, booths, and to groups of couches or other comfortable seating. Food is served throughout the day and varies over the course of each day, from Core World delicacies to Twi'lek Munch-fungus.
4th Floor
The Fourth Floor contains three main areas, the first and most notable being the Council Chambers. There are various Antechambers for discussion, storage and other purposes, all attached to the main Council Chamber. This is where the Jedi Council, composed of Masters both on Dantooine and currently off world, meet both in person and through holoprojection. They discuss the current state of the Order, future plans for the organisation, the advancement of students and Knights, and much more. These meetings are held regularly, but emergency council meetings are also called for urgent or rapidly developing situations or discussions. Groups of or even individual Jedi may be called to Council Meetings to provide information, expertise or testimony.
On the opposite end of the fourth floor sits the Research Wing of the Jedi Order. While this is primarily composed of scientific laboratories, other rooms and specialised chambers are also present here for different kinds of research and investigations. Much of this area is classified, with one Council Master (currently Master Avak Reeven) having full access to all areas, and other designated areas being accessible to certain senior Jedi. Jedi assigned to projects and investigations may be given temporary access to certain areas, even Padawans. In-between these two areas on the Fourth Floor is the Communications Room. This area is used for long-distance or encoded communications both receiving and sending, and is where holocalls or messages are screened before being sent to the appropriate recipient. Research or investigation into signals and codes can also take place in the Communications Room.
Basement Floor
The underground basement floor of the temple has two notable areas. The first is the Artifact Vault, only accessible from the Archives and currently only able to be accessed by the Datacard IDs of the Jedi Loremaster and one Council Master (Currently Tra'seya) as well as certain senior Jedi. Others may petition for temporary access for study, and Jedi Knights are generally permitted to be given access to study artifacts, but not remove them without express permission. Sith Holocrons, Lightsabers, as well as other artifacts and teachings tainted by the Dark Side of the Force are kept here. There is an emergency hatch leading to the Evacuation Tunnels, but this cannot be used to return to the Vault.
The Evacuation Tunnels take up the rest of the basement floor and extend throughout and far beyond the Temple Grounds. Able to be accessed from any floor of the temple through Turbolifts, stairwells and emergency hatches, these tunnels are to be used in an emergency situation to protect Jedi, Service Corps members and citizens of Khoonda from danger. These tunnels connect to the Khoonda Spaceport and to evacuation zones much farther away, intended to get noncombatants, wounded and others a far distance away from potential danger.
