This section will cover any major updates to the character's story as the campaign unfolds.
- Please provide a brief (at least one short paragraph) backstory for your character.
Nihilesa was born into a rather prestigious family within her caste on Umbara. Unfortunately for her, Umbara is known for its fair share of cloak and dagger and isn't quite above culling the herd to get to where they need to be. Finishing her studies within private tutelage, she went to a ball and found herself wooed by a peer, a man by the name of Royik, they danced and held one another close. Once they went to the balcony however, he grasped her neck and began to squeeze, panic welled in her chest as her hands grasped and clutched at his wrists. Everything faded, within a few moments she awoke, covered in blood, a dead Royik, and the crowd staring at her stained dress.
She fled, only to be intercepted an hour into her frantic escape to meet an elderly woman by the name of Telsirah. Telsirah told her what had happened, the traumatic event that Nihilesa had gone through awakened the Force within her. Telsirah isn't quite sure what happened still but assured Nihilesa if she stayed with her for awhile the answers might be within her grasp. Thus she stayed with Telsirah for six months, learning about the force, concocting chemicals and ingesting them. Unfortunately it was not enough and Telsirah also found herself nearly caught housing Nihilesa, thus she told the woman to seek out the Jedi as they had more resources to aid her and she would be safe there. With a heavy heart, she'd board the one vessel Telsirah kept hidden and flew off into the unknown, to the jedi. - Why does your character want to be a jedi? Nihilesa wishes to be a jedi to truly know what happened the night Royik perished, she wants to know exactly why he wished her dead, and perhaps to curiously explore the side of her that was unleashed.
- Are
there aspects of your character’s background (people, events, places)
that were more formative to your character’s current personal
development?Telsirah's family which consists of her father Edorim and mother Yelsina were both positive influences on her life, urging her to excel in her studies and become the woman she truly wished to be. They were also however, very firm with her studies and thus she found herself in a more reclusive state growing up. Telsirah felt more like the grandmother she never had, it would be a fun idea to expand more upon her familial history. She is from a prestigious cast of chemists, but not only that; her family was within the Rootai which possibly means they were targeted by a rival family which wished to ascend. Nihilesa has no idea if her mother and father are still alive but hopes for the best, but also believes that Umbarans are as clever as they are cruel and may have deduced she still lives and will send assassins to ensure her demise.
- Describe the kinds of personal relationships you might have had in your past? Telsirah was akin to a grandmother, she loves her to this day. Royik was a man she was close to, they had studied together at times within libraries and would discuss their works and life. They even went on a few dates, she cared about him deeply.
- What is most Jedi-like about your character? What is least Jedi-like about your character?
Most Jedi: Nihilesa is eager to learn and curious, she wishes to understand the world and will go through great lengths to understand anything she doesn't quite comprehend.
Least Jedi: Nihilesa was born in a world that wishes to be royalty which is earned by Spying, Subterfuge, and Assassination. She is somewhat cold to the ideas of death and the consequences of one's actions. - Does your character have a strong idea of the Force? Do they experience it in a certain way or is it a mystery to them? The Force is still a mystery to her, one she hopes to finally deduce with science. Of course she has hit something of a wall as a result, not quite understanding that the Force goes beyond the physical.
- Some
characters have dark (or great) secrets that they keep locked away from
even their dearest friends. Does your character harbor a great regret
or a secret aspiration that is central to their character? Nihilesa has a deep regret of what transpired with Royik, although she still doesn't quite understand what happened she is jumping to the conclusion that she murdered him.
- What elements of your character are you most excited to explore, whether narrative or mechanical?
I am actually very excited to begin to explore the ideas of a character born into a rather bleak and dark world where warmth isn't quite all that common. It was something she felt with Telsirah but not even with her own family, possibly due to the risks of weakening their daughter. Most of her works with the Force will be purely scientific, she wishes to understand the base components and dissect them; I want her to learn to understand the spiritual side of the force and accept it. I want her to struggle to understand, be willing to, and be frustrated.
- Does your character have a long-term plan, mechanically? None in particular.
- The
Dark Side tempts each Jedi differently. How does it prey upon your
character's emotional weakness and what makes them susceptible to it? A deep sense of guilt is harbored within her soul considering Royik. It preys upon that night, deeming her a cold-blooded killer that doesn't even care to remember the moment it happened. It feeds off of her own self-loathing.
- Would you rather start your character as an Initiate or as a Padawan? Initiate.
