Astella Avand (PC)

Padawan
  1. Please provide a brief (at least one short paragraph) backstory for your character.
Born on the planet of Eriadu in the Outer Rim to the dockworker Colo and waitress Miria, Astella lived a happy, if modest life. This changed when she had recently turned 8, and a strain of the Bandorian Plague started spreading through the part of the city they lived. The disease, while fatal, is very treatable, if one has the funds to pay for it. As that section of the city was very much a poorer part of town, they were more or less walled off and left to die. If it hadnt been for Cade Holden, their story, and lives, would have ended there, but thanks to his intervention they and many others lived. During the treatment Cade noticed that Astella was Force Sensitive, and she begged to be permitted to travel to Dantooine and join the Order, wanting to save lives as he had.

While initially reluctant, she wore her parents down, and was allowed to travel to the Order, where she was taken in as an initiate. Despite not having much gift in the healing arts, she took to the study as a fish to water, always hungering to learn more, to help others, that hunger for knowlede was noted and eventually she was taken in as Teniai Duo's Padawan. Despite her relentless dedication to learn more about the Force, she frequently spends her stipend and earned credits on holocalls back home to her parents on Eriadu.

  2. Why does your character want to be a jedi? The Force saved her from death, and she longs to pay that forwards, and has thus always dreamt about joining the Order.

  3. Are there aspects of your character’s background (people, events, places) that were more formative to your character’s current personal development?  Her parents, who she remains in contact with, Cade Holden, who saved her as a child and introduced her to the Force & lastly Teniai Duo, who is her Master and a fellow connosieur of the Jedi Archives.

  4. Describe the kinds of personal relationships you might have had in your past? Sella delights in teaching and learning about the Force and the Jedi in general, so she probably was something of a Teachers Pet, which may make enemies, but she is also delighted to help others who have difficulties with learning.

  5. What is most Jedi-like about your character?  What is least Jedi-like about your character? Her desire to use the Force to aid others, and generally to explore its Depths. Least Jedi-like is her lack of understanding of the dangers of the Force, and a lingering resentment of feeling abandoned to a disease that if the government of Eriadu had been willing to pay the tratment of, she wouldnt have needed the help of the force, and far fewer people would have died.

  6. Does your character have a strong idea of the Force? Do they experience it in a certain way or is it a mystery to them?A constant companion, something that after she was made aware of she realized had always been there, bringing light and warmth to her life, something she can spend the rest of her life studying, but will never truly known as a whole.

  7. Some characters have dark (or great) secrets that they keep locked away from even their dearest friends. Does your character harbor a great regret or a secret aspiration that is central to their character? No, not as of yet

  8. What elements of your character are you most excited to explore, whether narrative or mechanical? Narratively, her wide-eyed naivité, and blind trust in the Force and the Jedi Order, I do not know which direction it will go, but I long to find out through play.

  9. Does your character have a long-term plan, mechanically? Your typical Force Wizard-type, probably Ascetic after Seer, and various Force Powers, but I do not have a solid plan as of yet

  10. The Dark Side tempts each Jedi differently. How does it prey upon your character's emotional weakness and what makes them susceptible to it? Her lack of caution in the Force, and her desire to learn more of it, no matter what can easily lead to her seek out knowledge best left alone.

  11. Would you rather start your character as an Initiate or as a Padawan? I would prefer to start as a Padawan.
