Wixa (PC)

Please provide a brief (at least one short paragraph) backstory for your character.
Wixa was born on an Imperial scrap world to parents that had been taken and enslaved by the Empire along with the rest of their colony. The environment she group up in was bereft of anything natural. Twisted, broken, and charred starship hulks were what she was used to. The Chadra-fan on this world were used as slave labor to break down and recycle these hulks into something useful to the Empire. They were ideally suited for getting into the smallest and hardest to reach places to recover valuable equipment. It was extremely dangerous work but Wixa had her parents and her community and as long as they worked they were left mostly unbothered by the imperials.

But then the war came, and the Rebel Alliance liberated her people from Imperial rule. She remembers looking up as X-wings scattered and destroyed TIE fighters and feeling like the pilots of those ships were the freest people in the galaxy. She desperately wanted to join them up there, so when an Alliance recruiter came she enlisted right away. Not as a pilot right away, but as deck crew and mechanic. But they did teach her the basics of flying so she could move the ships around as they were being worked on. Almost her entire colony of chadra-fan joined the Alliance then as well, and on many ships of the Alliance you will find a sizable portion of chadra-fan working as crew and mechanics.

While working one day during the last campaigns of the war a tragedy occurred on the flight deck. A damaged X-wing was coming in too hot and as it crashed through the air shields it was set to collide with shuttle of wounded soldiers. Instinctively she reached out with her hands and was astonished when the burning X-wing seemed to slow and then stop, falling to the deck only a few feet from the shuttle. Everyone present froze and looked at her before evacuating the deck and putting out the fire. Afterwards an Alliance officer came to her quarters and asked her questions. The officer told her the story of Luke Skywalker, the hero of Yavin IV and the one who had defeated the Emperor. The officer told her that she needed to meet with Master Skywalker and learn about the force.

Wixa continued to serve with the Rebel Alliance Navy and then the New Republic Defense Fleet for about 15 years. With the opening of the temple on Dantooine Wixa received a message from the officer that had told her about Master Skywalker inviting her to study there. Wixa was discharged from the Republic Navy and given transportation to Dantooine where she now finds herself without her family, friends or even familiar crewmates. She has only what she carried with her and what the Jedi Order will provide, but she is free now and her heart is lifted.
Why does your character want to be a jedi? Wixa had a deep calling to be free, to follow her instincts and to help others. Plus now she gets to learn from a great hero like Master Skywalker.
Are there aspects of your character’s background (people, events, places) that were more formative to your character’s current personal development? Her experiences as slave labor for the Empire drove her to value freedom above all else. She's also seen friends and family injured and killed in accidents and combat so she is strongly driven to protect others.
Describe the kinds of personal relationships you might have had in your past? The colony of Chadra-fan she was born and raised in valued their community ties. Even under the Empire they preserved their social order and customs. They mostly stayed together after being liberated by the Alliance and they have recently resettled on a New Republic colony world. She sends and receives messages from her parents and other family members regularly. She also made friends with her crewmates from the Republic Navy and was well liked by all. As far as enemies she's never really known them or been known by them. She resists the Empire out of a sense of duty to free others as she was freed, but she doesn't hate any imperials specifically.
What is most Jedi-like about your character? What is least Jedi-like about your character? Most Jedi-like: She values the freedom and safety of others above most everything. Least Jedi-like: She has no strong affinity for nature, plants, or animals. She is most comfortable in artificial environments.
Does your character have a strong idea of the Force? Do they experience it in a certain way or is it a mystery to them? The force is a complete mystery to Wixa. Besides the single incident on the flight deck of the Republic ship she has never used it.
Some characters have dark (or great) secrets that they keep locked away from even their dearest friends. Does your character harbor a great regret or a secret aspiration that is central to their character? Nothing specific.
What elements of your character are you most excited to explore, whether narrative or mechanical? Flying and tinkering with devices and machines. But also really looking forward to being in a group of people and learning new things. Challenging will be figuring out how Wixa fits in to the Jedi order.
Does your character have a long-term plan, mechanically? No long term plan. Maybe build her own ship at some point.
The Dark Side tempts each Jedi differently. How does it prey upon your character's emotional weakness and what makes them susceptible to it? Wixa is an open book to force wielders. She is relatively young and emotionally immature having suffered under enslavement she didn't get a chance to develop like others. And her disconnect from the natural world means she doesn't have a natural calming influence acting on her.
Would you rather start your character as an Initiate or as a Padawan? Best to start as an initiate I think. She is completely ignorant of using the force, even the basics elude her at this point.
