  • Reek are naturally grey skinned, they only get their red-tint when starved to near death, where they turn aggressive and carnivorous
  • Checking in with various sources on the capital, it was evident that no ranchers were missing Reek, so if it was happening here, it would be in the wild, among the wild herds.
  • After spending days out in the wild, the party was able to track down a wild herd under assault from troopers of the Pyke Syndicate.
  • After defeating the group in battle and interrogating the survivors, the location of their base was found, and the group assaulted it immediately, before they had time to respond or flee
  • In the course of that hard fought battle, the Capo of the Pyke operation fled, but the operation itself was shut down, and their local contact, a rancher by the name of

Narrative Selection (Astella)

Astella put down the crochet needle and inspected her current progress.
It was coming along fine, the grey felt forming what's beginning to look more like the Reek plushie it will hopefully be by the time it is finished.

The sixth nameday of Evenne, one of Astella’s younger siblings is coming up, and with any luck she would be able to get some leave and travel to Eriadu to celebrate it along with the rest of the family.

Going back to her work, Astella’s mind went to the contrast of the normal Reek she saw on Codia, and the cyberized monstrosity they fought in the Pyke compound. What tortures were done on the poor creature to turn it into that, could it have been taken down nonlethally rather than killing it?

Perhaps it's best to not be caught in thinking of coulda-beens, what happened, happened.
The death of the Reek wasn't ideal, but it cannot be undone, and with any luck what happened to that poor thing won't happen to any other Reek, better to focus on the now, and the future than be trapped in the past.
