Invitation of the Syn'burcya

May 24, 2025
  • Session GM: BRD
  • Session Date: 24/05/25
Session Summary
  • The Jedi Order received a message from Wild Space from a Force Tradition known as the Order of the Syn'burcya that wished to meet the Jedi.
  • Knight Qu’urok was sent to investigate and brought the PC’s with him to the planet of Indoumodo, deep within Wild Space.
  • After receiving a message through the Force, the Jedi landed outside a template on the planet where they met Illuminant Uso Ban, the leader of the Order. It was then revealed that many members of this Order happened to also be Mandalorian.
  • He greeted the Jedi politely, offering for them to stay a while and learn about the Order of the Syn'burcya with the vague promise of explaining the reason for their visit soon enough.
  • Elias and Thraask chose to explore the Order’s archives to learn about their history, while Farr and Raskst spared against their members, while the others had tea with Uso Ban and discussed the philosophy of both their Orders.
  • Eventually the Jedi regrouped and were told of a test they would have to take to prove themselves for a supposed alliance and friendship with the Order of the Syn'burcya. The test involved invoking a spirit within an old Mandalorian helmet and request the code to the Holocron that Syn'burcya kept within their walls.
  • Invoking the spirit caused the Jedi to be swept off to somewhere else, where they fought off against the ghost of one Tar Viszla. The rookie Jedi were clearly outmatched individually by Viszla, though a few were able to get a few solid hits in.
  • While the Jedi did indeed pass, Tar Viszla was unimpressed with Thrassk’s reliance on violence and anger to fight. Thrassk did not take his words well, seemingly refusing to accept his failure at first.
  • While a tense victory, the Jedi were able to gain access to the code and formed the start of a friendship with the Syn'burcya. For passing their test, the Syn'burcya offered their knowledge on the crafting a style of lightsaber many believed lost to time.
  • The Jedi make their way back home, while Knight Qu’urok has a word with Thrassk on what happened. Thrassk in turn apologizes to his fellow Jedi, who reassure him and his abilities as a Jedi.

Narrative Selection (Elias)

Elias kept mostly to himself on the journey back to Dantooine.

He wasn’t upset or angry, more so worried and deep in thought. His mind played back that experience with Tar Viszla and his choice words with Thrassk. In the moment Elias hadn’t considered his fellow Jedi’s actions as too rash or violent, maybe because it was hard to really tell when facing a spirit over a being of flesh. Maybe he just wasn’t paying attention enough to see it, but regardless the look in Thrassk’s eyes after it was all said and done had been telling enough. The way he’d pulled away from Elias and lashed out verbally to Tar Viszla - it was unlike Thrassk, at least the Thrassk Elias had met before.

So it had him thinking about what it meant to fight as a Jedi. He remembered the teachings about using your lightsaber to defend, to be a guardian and not to simply attack. But there were times when the line between those two things was much more blurred, what did you do then? Was it wrong to go all out on a test presented to them, should they have found another way? What if attacking first could save more lives than simply waiting to defend? These questions and many more rattled in Elias’s brain as he pressed his head against the ship viewing glass and watched the stars slowly drift by.

Elias had now seen how violence could affect someone emotionally, he’d seen the change in Thrassk for only a moment. He then thought about the Knights of Ren, their cruelty and love of violence seemed almost second nature - was that the risk people took if they relied on violence too much, was everyone just one too many battles away from it becoming your first and only response? Sighing gently, he closed his eyes and tried to pull his mind away from such intense thoughts that he had no answers to at the moment.

Right now, all he could do was trust in his training and in the Force. That maybe the answer to Elias’s questions was something that he could figure out with time. For now, he’d just try and make sure to keep a closer eye on his friends and make sure nobody got too used to the violence of the galaxy.
