To the Council of the Jedi Order.
Masters,
I write to inform you of a disturbing development following our deployment against the Pyke operations on Teema-Vou and the subsequent investigation. We gathered intelligence that suggested that someone was expressing they had undue influence over our organization. While I personally dismissed this possibility at first my peers and Master Ke rightfully decided we should investigate.
The investigation, which involved the theft of one landspeeder [see invoice #2], led us into contact with one Apollo Vonte. A person I believe to be an underboss of Crimson Dawn. This was after we apprehended his sister, an agent of Crimson Dawn. She was our prisoner, and given the circumstances there was real reason to believe her life and person were now in grave if not imminent danger after the Hosnian Prime temple received threats from Apollo.
In this meeting which took place in a Crimson Dawn stronghold [coordinates attached] Apollo revealed that he had been behind some of our more recent intelligence windfalls against the Pyke syndicate. All in a bid to secure a position against his criminal rivals by handing them to us. He indicated two things, a desire to kill his sister describing her as a loose end, and a desire to openly ally with the Jedi order. Naturally we all declined the first condition outright. She was in our custody, and such a thing is unthinkable. The second however is far more disturbing. We had amongst ourselves discussed the possibility on the way there. We were not united in our opinions on the matter. In particular Padawan Kyyljitharr saw it as a net gain. I do not fault the logic, if Crimson Dawn could feed us information without us knowing it they could certainly continue to do so if we aren’t careful. Our priority as Jedi is to save and better lives. But to leave us beholden to such an organization, and even more vulnerable to their manipulations. That is corruption, and that is how it starts.
This disunity of opinion followed us into our meeting with Vonte. While we towed the line with regards to Remi, the question of alliance continued. When it seemed we were at an impasse, I told the group what we should do, walk away. I believed I imparted to Remi that we would protect her to the best of our ability, but made no move to force her to come with us. She was clearly scared, agitated, and fearing for her life. I did not want to add to her stress and on reflection I feel I’ve failed her. I tell you I know Talia Dreven walked out with me. The others hesitated, and when they came to the Peacekeeper it was without Remi. I know that Padawan Kyyljitharr had made an offer to accept Vontes deal on our behalf, and persisted with the offer over my objection. I have no real reason to suspect that Padawans Huntru and Alnahr participated in this as well, but I know when the three returned Remi Vonte was not with them. I suspect and accuse Padawan Kyyljitharr of conspiring and allying with Crimson Dawn, a known criminal entity. Such an alliance weakens and corrupts us. That any Jedi would consider this disturbs me.
Thank you for your time Masters,
Padawan Sestri Amena
