Wearily he entered his own room at the temple. Battered and bruised he was quick to lean the blade against the wall of the room. He cracked his neck as he moved towards the refresher, he hadn’t been this hurt in a while, The swelling of his lip pressing against his mask made it hard to ignore. Those knights fought hard, and he’d paid the price alright. Slowly but surely he undid his wrappings, and gazed back at the face which he’d slowly been coming to terms with seeing.
“We meet again, and in much worse circumstances than the last time.”
It had been a hell of loss. D’Karo wasn’t one much for Ego, but even he wasn’t feeling too good about this one, he’d been a minor speed bump in their road for their mission.
He pressed his gloved thumb to his lip, closing his eyes and focusing.
The Axe. The scythe, the flame, amongst the dark figures now stuck in his memories, and the ringleader who ignored the Jedi to focus on the task at hand. They had lost to not even the enemies full strength. A grip of anger and frustration gnawed at his gut, why hadn’t they been good enough? Why couldn’t he have matched them? Why did it take so much effort to even hit them?!
The frustration built until He let out a measured breath. A Jedi did not dwell on fact like a beast, a Jedi reflected on what occurred, and moved forward, learning from their mistakes trying to build a better future. They’d managed to save most people, aside from Dalton. Leina had been an inside plant. No one could have expected what happened. The team was alive. Instead of fixating on the Knights, they had done the important thing and saved lives. That was what mattered. As he calmed himself, he felt the wound start to reduce along with the anger. That is what he had to remember. The important thing was to save lives. His team, tribe, and whatever innocent was in the area, and for that he should be happy, because at the end of the day, that is what mattered. “And THAT is why I’m going to get better with my blade. Not for revenge. But to save lives when the time comes.”
