Learra Mac (PC)

Initiate
  1. Please provide a brief (at least one short paragraph) backstory for your character.
Learra was born on Kiffex and spent her time within one of the many villages that dot the planet’s surface. She didn’t always know war, with the Mac clan attempting to live out a peaceful life. This all changed though, when Learra met the man who would become her husband. He was a member of Clan Konshi, and he wanted volunteers to follow him to Kiffex to participate in a clan war against Clan Moxla. Learra volunteered, finding herself enamored with this strange man and the idea of leaving her modest origins.

Her father protested, but ultimately could not stop her from leaving. Learra hadn’t understood back then what she had, and the trials to come would serve as life’s cruelest lesson. She was a natural warrior, and seemed to possess the ability to kill those she came into close contact with. Together with the rest of Clan Konshi they carried out a series of successful skirmishes and campaigns against Clan Moxla. Things would change however when Learra became pregnant with child, forcing her out of the front lines.

When she gave birth to her daughter, she named her Nel, Nel Konshi. After all, it was Kiffar tradition for a child to take their father’s clan. Devoted mother though she was, Learra yearned to get back to supporting her husband on the front lines. For years following, as their daughter grew, the conflicts renewed themselves. Learra was often leaving her daughter in the hands of village members, having grown to desire the thrill of the fight. That is, until five years ago, when everything she knew went up in flames.

Clan Moxla had laid out a clever trap, both for Learra herself and Clan Konshi. They learned of Learra’s previous clan affiliation, and embroiled clan Mac by occupying their clan village. When Learra arrived she was beaten within an inch of her life, and left to die. That was the day that Learra learned she could not only kill people with a touch, but heal as well. Patching up her wounds she found her way from Kiffex back to Kiffu. But all she found were ashes, as Clan Moxla launched a daring attack. They had scattered the clan to the winds, and Learra found her husband and daughter among the ruins of their home.

Broken, with nowhere to go, Learra found an isolated location on Kiffu. She had never intended to become involved with anyone again, until a wounded Kiffar darkened her door. Call it guilt, grief, or just the desire to make him leave, but Learra treated him. She used this strange ability of hers, to ensure that the man wouldn’t die. Then, word began to spread, and soon, Learra had a fully running clinic. The rules of the clinic were simple: No violence of any kind. Learra didn’t care about anyone’s feuds, or conflicts, they would put war away to receive treatment or be turned away.

She was eventually found by the Jedi Order, hearing reports of a mystical doctor on Kiffu. They offered to bring her to the Order, to teach her how to better use her abilities. Leaving the clinic in the hands of her apprentices, Learra left to pursue the depths of her power. She doesn’t know what the future holds for her, or what she even wants from the Jedi. But she knew to trust her instincts, and her instincts told her this was the right choice to make.

  2. Why does your character want to be a jedi? The Jedi are the keepers of peace and life. She has the ability to become one, and with being a Jedi comes the influence of their Order.

  3. Are there aspects of your character’s background (people, events, places) that were more formative to your character’s current personal development?  Learra's early adulthood, primarily her 20s that were the most formative. Being embroiled in a clan war on Kiffu and losing her husband and daughter to it are what led to her pacifist ways.

  4. Describe the kinds of personal relationships you might have had in your past? Learra had a husband, a daughter and a whole community of people that fought beside her. Her friends called her devoted, fierce and driven. Enemies called her terrifying and merciless. But nowadays she is simply a doctor that demands those under her care respect her rules.

  5. What is most Jedi-like about your character?  What is least Jedi-like about your character? What's most Jedi-like about Learra is her genuine desire to help and heal others. Her least Jedi-like trait is her repressed desire to turn her abilities against those who harm her or her community.

  6. Does your character have a strong idea of the Force? Do they experience it in a certain way or is it a mystery to them? Learra feels a sense of calm whenever she's using the Force to heal. She doesn't exactly have the strongest idea, just what she's heard from rumors

  7. Some characters have dark (or great) secrets that they keep locked away from even their dearest friends. Does your character harbor a great regret or a secret aspiration that is central to their character? Prior to becoming a medical professional Learra was a brutal and efficient warrior. She killed many of her fellow Kiffar in several clan wars and did it without empathy or compassion

  8. What elements of your character are you most excited to explore, whether narrative or mechanical? I think the most interesting and most challenging aspects are the same. And that's her obsessive drive towards pacifism. How long can she (and I) go without doing a combat check?

  9. Does your character have a long-term plan, mechanically? Healbot

  10. The Dark Side tempts each Jedi differently. How does it prey upon your character's emotional weakness and what makes them susceptible to it? It's the dark voice in her head. The one that knows the truth of sentient nature. That tells her she's wasting her time

  11. Would you rather start your character as an Initiate or as a Padawan? Initiate this go round/
