This section will cover any major updates to the character's story as the campaign unfolds.
1. Please provide a brief (at least one short paragraph) backstory for your character.
Kendlet Diltan, affectionally known to his mother and fellow litter-mates as "Kenny", grew up in the warrens of The Wheel, essentially a ghetto where non-human laborers and downtrodden gamblers made their homes between shifts at the casino, either working, gambling or both.
Kenny spent much of his youth investigating the narrow maintenance corridors and other dark corners of the casino space station, eventually becoming intimately familiar with the computer systems onboard. Soon his unique and uncanny talents caught the attention of local thugs, and Kenny would frequently be tasked with assisting The Wheel's undesirable denizens with shady jobs. Even the simplest jobs like uncovering which incoming ship manifest had the most desirable goods to steal would reward Kenny with a relative fortune to help his family. Unlocking the right door could feed his litter-mates for weeks.
Kenny could even get past the encryption on some of Sabaac tables at the older casinos, scrambling the cards in the favor of an accomplice - one such job netted Kenny with enough credits to get him and his entire family (plus a few cousins) off The Wheel for good - maybe even back to his ancestral home of Chad and away from the Empire. Unfortunately, on the very same day Kenny hoped to book passage off-station, his mother was accused of cheating, and subsequently arrested. Dieka Dilton had herself been a gambling addict and spent too much time and credits at the sabaac tables when she wasn't washing dishes at the Crimson Casino. By some stroke of the Force, Dieka found herself at a table with an Imperial Inspector and Simon Greyshade himself. When the Inspector lost a hand to the diminutive Chadra-fan woman, he was not happy and accused Dieka of cheating. Greyshade, not willing to upset the official, agreed, claiming that there was "no way someone dressed in rags could afford that expensive earpiece" , sported by Dieka.
Kenny's mom was arrested for counting cards, and while he did not actually hack the sabaac table this time, he felt guilty because the jeweled earpiece was in fact a gift to mother from son. Seeing no other solution, Kenny was forced to bail out his mother with the small fortune he had amassed, leaving only enough for a single ticket off-station which he used to flee the shame he had brought upon his mother and family. Over the next few months, Kenny worked for various pirate gangs and smugglers, taking jobs where he could before landing himself with a group of Rebel sympathizers. Admiring their aspirations to bring peace and freedom to the galaxy, Kenny decided to throw in with the Republic and eventually finding himself among the potential recruits for Luke Skywalker's Jedi praxium on Dantooine.
2. Why does your character want to be a jedi?
Kenny believes the Jedi are the galaxy's best chance at a lasting peace. Kenny is a kind and innocent being, childlike in his ideal that all beings in the galaxy should treat each other like family. If by becoming a Jedi Kenny can help the galaxy come together, than that's what Kenny will do. More specifically, Kenny wishes to see his family on The Wheel freed from the grip of gangsters and thugs.
3. Are there aspects of your character’s background (people, events, places) that were more formative to your character’s current personal development?
Kenny's mother is the most important person in the galaxy, followed by his littermates, which there are several. Kenny has always seen the best in his mother despite the poor and sometimes neglectful environment he was raised in - Kenny's mother worked in the kitchens on The Wheel, where she earned a meager wage - unfortunately, Kenny and his siblings went hungry on many occasions after mom's wages were lost on the casino floor.
Kenny also had many run-ins with Black Sun gangsters and Imperial thugs during his time on The Wheel, and on more than one occasion with the owner/administrator of The Wheel, Simon Greyshade. While Kenny never claims to hate anyone, he has a particularly hard time considering Simon and his associates as family - maybe distant cousins at best.
4. Describe the kinds of personal relationships you might have had in your past?
See previous answer.
5. What is most Jedi-like about your character? What is least Jedi-like about your character?
Kenny's willingness to see the best in everyone he meets is his most Jedi-like characteristic.
6. Does your character have a strong idea of the Force? Do they experience it in a certain way or is it a mystery to them?
Kenny doesn't know much about the Force.
7. Some characters have dark (or great) secrets that they keep locked away from even their dearest friends. Does your character harbor a great regret or a secret aspiration that is central to their character? This answer will be kept as private as possible. (No is a valid response)
No
8. What elements of your character are you most excited to explore, whether narrative or mechanical? What aspect of your character do you think will be most challenging to play? We also encourage you to think about how your character does/will interact with the Force and how you may also want that to change mechanically/narratively as your character grows.
I want to see Kenny sneak around the smaller spaces and mess with computer terminals and mechanisms to cause chaos. I want to RP situations to find funny and interesting ways to mess with adversaries. Kenny is looking forward to making friends and learning new ways to get away with mischief using the Force.
9. Does your character have a long-term plan, mechanically? If so, what is it? No is an acceptable answer - we're just interested in the sorts of niches people want to fill and builds people are interested in. We also encourage you to think about how your character does/will interact with the Force and how you may also want that to change mechanically/narratively as your character grows
No - learn as I go.
10. The Dark Side tempts each Jedi differently. How does it prey upon your character's emotional weakness and what makes them susceptible to it?
Kenny is trusting to a fault, if he is done dirty too often, or someone he considers family betrays him, it could be painful for him. Also, if his immediate family is in danger or harmed, he may take steps that he wouldn't normally.
11. Would you rather start your character as an Initiate or as a Padawan? While most characters will have 2-5 sessions to become familiar with the Order before becoming a Padwan, there is the option to start as one immediately. This is typically reserved for characters who were born or raised within the Order and their backstory should reflect as such. More details on being a Padawan can be found here.
