History of Aeternia

Earliest Written Records of Aeternia
Although Aeternia existed for many millennia before The Sundering, the earliest records only go back to about 1000 years before The Sundering. During this Era, Teer have just begun to establish a coherent civilization on the site of the future nation of Stormbane and Humans have found their place in the world alongside Obsidai, making a name for themselves as a resilient and creative group. Some records from this time period indicate the existence of the Wildkin, but consensus on this is hazy at best.

First Divine Contact
- 820 years before The SunderingThe Blood Mother makes herself known to the world. During some mining operations on Feylin, a strange but soothing voice could be heard echoing through the tunnels. The Obsidai and Humans who were part of the operation dug deeper towards what they assumed was the source of the voice until they found a large cavern. Peculiarly, this cavern was made of worked marble with a large alter in the center. By sheer accident, one of the Obsidai injured themselves on a cracked shard of the alter, spilling a few drops of blood on the alter. The voice of the Blood Mother filled the room and while the mining party was terrified, they had opened the door to communication with the first proven deity in Aeternia's pantheon.

The Sundering
The Sundering was a magical event that took all scholars by surprise. Aeternia shook... but not like an earthquake. Every bit of land almost felt like it was being whisked away. The stress on the land caused fractures and eventual splitting of the land. The oceans drained away, turning the continents into the floating islands known today. For such a seemingly cataclysmic event, the damage was strangely surgical. Beyond the destruction on the seas, almost no major damage occurred on the islands themselves. Nobody is quite sure how the land masses remain suspended over seeming nothingness, but it's clear that nothing hospitable waits below.
The Cycles
Time is hard to follow in The Cycles, so what follows is the Timeskippers accounts of what can best be put together. As more cycles occur, their events will be documented to the best of The Timeskippers abilities. What is known is the cycles all seem to start 3 years after The Sundering, on the day that Lex was meant to be named heir to the throne of Stormbane. The ceremony was revealed to be a trap by Aymar to get get his rebellious daughter close.
It is unknown how many cycles occurred before Lex, Rex, and Bilni figured out the nature of the Cycles. All that is known is that the three of them became aware of their nature as Timeskippers in the same cycle and were drawn together by fate to form the group that now chronicles the cycles and attempts to understand the mysteries of the world.

Cycle 1
The Formation of the Timeskippers
The first large group of Timeskippers came together about 2 years into what is now dubbed Cycle 1.
After a quick orientation from Lex and Bilni, the newly awoken Timeskippers were thrown directly into the thick of things. After dealing with mysterious void rifts and a now broken orb of immense power, the Timeskippers met two new companions -- a 9 tailed fox named Tsuki and Onwa, a strange person from the forest with a very... unique way of speaking. Both of them appear to have the ability to manipulate these void rifts and the shards they produce in a way unlike any other.
