Preparing for Session Zero

What We'll Be Doing

• Create characters and our ship’s history together through memories and choices.
• Begin immersed in an exciting story scene aboard a damaged vessel.
• Focus on storytelling, collaboration, and shaping the story together.

Some light reading is encouraged, but not required!

Character Prep (Flexible!)

• No full character needed in advance.
• Bring loose ideas (species, role, background vibes) if you want.
• Pre-built characters are okay — but please leave room to adapt as the story emerges.
• Multiple ideas are welcome!

The initial scene is for exploring ideas for what could be true and possible connections you might have with one another.

• If there are false starts, backtracks, and such on the way to finding something that really clicks, that’s completely okay! 
• Concrete reality won't kick in until session 1 (with most elements flexible for the first few sessions, if you need to adjust anything).
• So experiment without fear that you are locking yourself into canon from the first moments. 

Character Creation Rules

• Species: D&D 5e and Spelljammer species (plus some homebrew flexibility)
• Classes: D&D 5e standard, probably with some spelljammer tweaks yet to be figured out.
• Backgrounds and Connections: I'm hoping that ideas will emerge naturally through memory scenes and shared adversity.
• Stats: Shared group attribute roll (each player assigns their own)

Setting the Initial Vibe

• Cosmic fantasy
• Survival, memory, rebirth
• Ash and starlight
• Found family across the void

Where it goes from there is up to you! 

(We can definitely discuss long-term vibe and other preferences at session zero, but lets save the meta-discussion for after the drama.)
