Session 005 - When 'Subdue' Means 'Knock-Out'

April 13, 2024

Cassius, ever the showman, transformed the pigpen into a gladiatorial arena, his gold a cruel lure for the bloodthirsty villagers. Roschana, underestimated as always, proved her might with a single, decisive blow, silencing a cocky farmer. Meanwhile, my sleep spell was less 'lullaby' and more 'knockout gas', clearing Cassius' path for his brutal display.

The fleeing villagers reminded me of startled pigeons, scattering from a very dangerous cat. Rip, however, crossed a line. His flying elbow, meant to be flashy, was a pathetic miss, the attempted backstab a desperate bid for relevance. Roschana and Cassius shut him down with the brutal efficiency of a well-oiled machine, leaving him unconscious alongside the last villager.

My focus turned to Spoon and the battered goblin. This wasn't a monster, but a victim, and my words soothed his fear. His frailty was shocking, highlighting the abuse he'd endured. Roschana, the healer, patched him up, while the arrogant farmers awoke to a sobering reality. They squawked about innocence until Spoon, now Knife, and his potion-fueled bravado entered the conversation. The suggestion of a rematch in the pigpen suddenly sapped their defiance.

These men would face Maraguin. Their cries about a dead farmer fell on deaf ears – the Governor's word was law, no matter the cost. Yet, even as we traveled, a strange voice emerged, a plea from the roadside. A talking stone? Cassius, in his infinite wisdom, decided this creature needed a field trip, foisting it on poor Spoon. Teaching rocks numbers... this journey just got weirder.

This is what it means to be a 'hero' in Gralton. Chaos follows us like a mangy stray, and the line between justice and a traveling circus blurs with every step.
