Goblins

A Cacophony of Chaos

Goblins are small, green-skinned humanoids with oversized heads, beady eyes, and a penchant for mayhem. Their voices are shrill, their laughter cruel, and their smell...well, let's just say it's best avoided. They epitomize a chaotic, destructive energy that seems to erupt wherever they go.

Origins: Spite and Survival

The exact origin of goblins is shrouded in legend. Some say they were twisted from other humanoids by a malevolent deity, others believe they emerged from the darkest corners of the First World (the realm of the fey). What is certain is that goblins are remarkably resilient, adapting and infesting countless environments like a tenacious plague.

Ecology: Tribal Warfare and Scavenged Existence

Goblins live in loosely organized tribes led by the biggest, strongest, or most cunning amongst them. These tribes are constantly bickering, with leadership changing as often as the moon. Their settlements are cobbled together from whatever they can scavenge: stolen bits of armor, animal bones, mud, and a healthy dose of questionable engineering.

Beyond their love for chaos, goblins have a few passions:

  • Fire: They are pyromaniacs at heart, finding endless glee in setting things ablaze.
  • Animals: Goblins have a twisted affinity for animals, particularly dogs, rats, and the monstrous cave beasts they call 'wargs'.
  • Shiny Things: Sparkly baubles hold an absurd fascination for goblins, sometimes surpassing even their greed for food.

Society: A Twisted Reflection

Goblin society is brutal, short-lived, and bizarre. They have a warped sense of humor, finding cruelty hysterical. Songs and storytelling are a core part of their culture, though these often involve screeching about gruesome deeds or nonsensical rhymes. While they seem utterly chaotic, goblins do possess a strange cunning – they are masters of traps, ambushes, and underhanded tactics.

A Neverending Nuisance

Despite their diminutive size, goblins are a persistent threat in the world of Pathfinder. They raid villages, pillage forgotten ruins, and infest old dungeons. Their sheer number and surprising resilience make even a single goblin tribe a threat to be reckoned with, and an underestimated one at that.

A Word of Caution

Never mistake a goblin for a mere fool. They possess a vicious ingenuity, a surprising adaptability, and a willingness to die for the sheer joy of causing havoc. They are a testament to the fact that even the smallest and strangest creatures can hold a surprising menace.
