Her Illustrious Highness Ayla Telluriel Yllas Illmarith Lidarya, Hereditary Grand Duchess of Ath, Tenar, Segoy, and Liathyra, Princess of the Rûnevae Isles, Countess of Ursins, Defender of the Veiled Marches, and Lady of the Sealed Treaties, has had a most interesting life so far. The Lidaryas are small but well-connected, immensely wealthy, and surprisingly powerful family of elven nobility known for their great devotion to the gods, rumoured connection to Unknown, and the now deceased matriarch (and Ayla's paternal grandmother) Myris.
Myris was a remarkable. It was her who took her family's ancestral dealings with the local archfey to the next level, sealing an alliance with marriage. She was apparently canny enough to ensure that the vows were loose enough to allow her a more normal marriage, and thus avoided some scandal, and much notoriety - though rumours, of course, flew thick and fast.
The fey blood has not thinned in Ayla. As the oldest child she has much responsibility, but due to the long lives of elves it is entirely possible she will not be called to attend to them for centuries. She was left adrift, and so set herself to the task of whiling away the long decades in the typical fashions of the nobility.
But her family's legacy still clung. On nights of particular significance to their fey patrons they gather in the forests that lurk in the background of their estate, to fulfil their side of ancient deals. Blood is spilt. Rituals are performed. Most, surprisingly have a good time of it. But is has resulted in Ayla having a much closer relationship with the fey than is wise, accepting invitations to their balls and having dalliances with their princes.
She has come to the New World in search of adventure, and to further her own personal power. As endlessly entertaining as court intrigue is, it's much more fun to get your hands dirty on occasion.
