Curt had a rather idyllic childhood, growing up in a small fishing village. The hard but enjoyable physical labor produced a strong young boy who quickly eclipsed his father in his abilities to pull in their nets, haul in heavy line. But what Curt most looked forward to every year was the solstice festival in which all the local communities came together to celebrate their good fortunes, pray for them in the coming year and compete in a series of sporting games.
As Curt grew so did his wins within many of these games and it wasn’t long before a fellow competitor, a traveling devotee of Kurgess, saw great promise in the young boy and offered to train him. After a tearful goodbye he left with blessings from family.
Curt spent his adolescence training in both sport and martial endeavors as he traveled the lands with his mentor. The two partook in sporting events in foreign lands and worked to root out cheats and evildoers who plagued those they met in their travels. His training continued as the two at times settled down so that Curt might learn the ways of a champion.
Curt grew into a model Paladin with few his equal, the exception being his close friend and rival in most competitions, Reimar. In time as his mentor slowly aged, he was told it was now his turn to strike out on his own. He was to go forth and seek new challenges, new contests of athleticism, and to instill the love of competition and fair play in someplace new. What better challenge than braving the New World?
