Location(s): plains north of First Landing

Jirel's full report can be found here.

Short summary:

The party went north of First Landing to explore. Caught off-guard by a heavy snowstorm, they were attacked by a vicious Frost Troll. The monster devastated them, downing them one after another, which resulted in Jirel fleeing. When she returned to First Landing, she found Lynn and Cai, but not Pabram, who sacrificed himself to save the rest.

Full report:

After a night drunk in the Pug, Zinlynndise Imare, Caiwom Uduambe the lizard, Pabram Folkblade (Rest in peace you horndog) and me left to go exploring the area north of First Landing for a bit.

Horn dog? Fertilize? Why do I suddenly feel as if the universe was trying to tell me this Tiefling got the hots for me. N-No, don't write that down!

- Lynn

We should have paid better attention to the weather. It was bitter cold. Had we postponed our outing a few days we might not have ran into the dangers hiding in the snowstorm.

My fault for the snow storm. I didn't realize how badly it hurt us in a fight. I'll keep an eye on it from now on.

- Lynn

In the snowstorm, while I was scouting ahead I noticed an oddity in the snow. To alert the others I blew my whistle. Damningly for us, the oddity turned out to be a giant Frost Troll. Hesitating in our course of action here cost us. We did not have the appropriate tools to take on a Troll of this stature, and we should have fled. Instead I proposed a fighting retreat.

A troll, a renowned and vicious predator that often stalks biomes such as forests and apparently tundras. Their appetite for destruction ostracizes them from even their own kind, more comparable to a Fiend than a Hill Giant. The Druids of my circle advised to avoid them, and in dire circumstances our greatest warriors would drive one away. Fire and acid are well known deterrents.

- Lynn

We gave the Troll too much time to get close to us, and it downed the Barbarian in one hit. I myself narrowly avoided its axe. Thinking quickly, we had to stop the situation from worsening. I distracted the Troll from the Barbarian’s limp body, taking a heavy blow in the process, and tried to trip it up with a bola, but failed. The Druid managed to Heal the Barbarian, but doing so left her in range of the Troll. The Troll then proceeded to take out Lynn with a single throw of its axe. Things were looking dire, but at this point I had to look out for my own life, so I went into the snowstorm, firing arrows at the distant silhouette of the Troll in the hopes of providing a distraction, but it didn’t matter.

When I returned to First Landing, Cai was home safe. Lynn was miraculously alive, but the Wizard had died. It looks like Pabram sacrificed their life to save the bleeding Druid. When adventuring, one is expected to walk hand in hand with death. Not long ago I saw three of my comrades fried. Now, a Tiefling broken.

I don’t know if it’s getting harder or easier to bear…

Food is fairly bland. Land tastes like land, grass tastes like grass, brush tastes like brush. Wanted to eat Troll, but smacked me hard. Get fire for that thing, it can hurt ya bad, even killed a dumb Tiefling. Bring fire if you wanna head there.
