Russ'Ruk was born and raised in what one thinks when they think of your typical Kobold tribe. Deep in a mountainous cave, ruled over by a tyrannical overlord of a dragon, hard at work every single day for that dragon, and never given any time of day. Seen as a common pest more than actual people, Russ'ruk's people were often subjected to attacks from local adventurers looking for valuable loot and supplies. Where his tribe would differ from most was just how cruel their tyrannical overlord dragon was.

Zofaas'toor'thur'drun'dinok, loosely translated as, The Frightening Overlord of the Inferno and Bringer of Death. Was a truly awful Red dragon, who claimed his blessed blood ran through all of his underlings, and should they fail being subject to his terrible fire they deserved to die. Of course this was for the most part a blatant lie, and a good way to keep his minions under control and pliable. Any disrespect, delay in following orders, existing at the wrong time, walking on the incorrect stones when adding to the horde, and worst of all failure resulted in many deaths from his hate-filled flames.

One such failure came at the hands of intruding adventurers, nothing out of the ordinary right? Except these ones were powerful, had heard that there was dragon treasure to be had in those caves, and they wanted a piece for themselves. So of course the mighty dragon sent his teeming underlings after the adventurers believing they would stop them. The party pushed onward defeating droves upon droves of kobolds, bugbears, and goblins as they pushed towards the center of the mountain; The dragon's ire at the sheer 'incompetence' of his underlings growing with each passing second. The last of the defenders, still numbering in the Hundreds sheltered themselves within the great horde as if to make one final stand while pleading to their master that he aid them against the adventurers, they were simply too strong. Snorting in rage he waited for the adventurers to come into his chamber, where upon he unleashed a deafening roar of an order for his minions to strike. And of course they did just that piling upon the group in such concentrated numbers that they surely couldn't fail. In the midst of the conflict Russ'Ruk was aiming to strike out at the elf who had killed many of his friends and family when he heard that terrible rumble from the center of the hoard.

Screaming out for his allies to try to take cover the dragon let loose flames that could melt one's soul, upon everything, the adventurers, his minions, the cave, all burnt to cinders and char. The dragon snorted at the petty losses, scooped anything valuable from the bodies and added it to the pile without another thought. Meanwhile Russ'ruk who had been buried in the bodies of his fellows lay stunned, it had to have been several days before the dragon finally decided he would gather more minions to torment and left his home for a time. The great wingbeats were just enough to rouse the stunned kobold from his near grave only so he could really see the horror that had been wrought upon them. Forever scarred by the incident he felt fire and brimstone take place in his heart a burning need for vengeance bursting in his heart. He pulled himself from the bodies, scales forever etched with the loss of his tribe and stole away a few pieces of gear from the hoard. Nothing so nice that they would be missed upon his dreadful rulers return and he fled.

For days perhaps weeks he ran, using his skills at surviving in the caves to forage for strange foods and hunt down small critters to eat until he came upon civilization. Slowly he found a new way of life in these strange city streets, but always that passion to return and take his revenge burned, nothing here would bring him his taste of victory. If those adventurers were not enough, then he must search elsewhere. On his travels he happened upon a flier for the guild expedition to the new world and thought it would be a ripe chance to find allies, equipment, and challenge enough to push him beyond what he needed simply to defeat his tyrant. No this was a new start, a chance to forge something new and to take his revenge on that blasted worm. And so our tale really begins...
