As a second son of a second son, Rolan Lodestone's wouldn't inherit title or wealth as his brother and cousins had and so the military seemed the only route to higher station. To his dismay though, he was relegated to becoming a field medic, with little hope of proving himself to a superior officer, or so he had thought.
After saving a magus commander from certain death, he was offered a recommendation to the magus academy. Alas, his studies were disrupted with the death of his father. Unable to focus and unable to handle the jealousy he harbored against his kin, he decided to set forth to create his own clan hold, with a new name and a new world.
The only memento of his past is his father's shield.
