Shirkad

Shirkad belongs to coastal Iruxi, a village near the sea that was swept by a tsunami that came seemingly from nowhere.

Due to his strangely obscure lineage, that combined old blood of a white dragon and a water elemental, he was able to survive this catastrophe, albeit he was stranded in the sea, where he was found by a pirate ship.

Still young, and assumed to be some kind of omen by the crew, he was adopted by the captain and taught basic sailing skills so that he can provide some kind of help. Shirkad had to be taught common, which took a while, and by the time he could communicate clearly with his crew members, his magic started manifesting. With that discovery, captain Celaeno, who was a spellcaster herself, taught him what she could.

Few years passed, and Shirkad was picking up new skills, slowly, but surely, and his unique ability to breathe underwater has become standard use during searches for sunken vessels. His combat prowess wasn't his forte, but magic was a great boost to his usefulness on the ship.

That was, until that strange creature attacked them. It looked like some kind of crab, however it was the size of a mountain, it's shell covered in wood and masts of broken ships. It's claws made quick work of the Ornithia, the ship they were sailing. In fact, the ship was split in two before everyone not on deck could properly wake up.

Shirkad and basically everyone on the ship was thrown overboard, oftentimes knocked out by flying wood and gear. Presumably only Shirkad survived, woken up hours later at the bottom of the sea. He salvaged what he could and begun his search for nearest shore or other place that he could use to properly recuperate. Eventually he found himself near the seaside station of the Guild. Shirkad wanted a ship, but what he was offered was next best thing - to go into New World, where he can get himself a new ship and possibly new crew.
