Loose Threads: Building Ties with the Horde, Raiding the Coalition for Roanokae Supplies, Undead along the Plains
Participants: Reiko Amiri, The Ashen Hawk, Poppy and Dolly, Lanliss Ashscribe, Hurggrek Valkorn
Locations: Lostvault
Full report:
With First Landing's reputation in shambles among Olog's Pact, a.k.a. The Horde, Reiko Amiri met up with The Ashen Hawk to attempt to do something to repair it and avoid an unnecessary war for the Guild. Poppy and Dolly, Lanliss Ashscribe, and Hurggrek Valkorn decided to tag along on what was meant to be a simple mission of peace. It was indeed, somewhat simple, with a relatively quick journey to Roanokae Camp and west along the plains, making way for Lostvault, lacking any better options.
The travel in the new Continent was much more treacherous. While the party steered clear of the majority of the fighting, they still ran into 4 giants and fought a close and vicious fight that ended in the giants totally slaughtered. This event was only noteworthy in that the giants were attracted to a bright light in the distance, which the group decided to follow up on. Upon drawing near, a woman was seen in the center of a horde of undead, holding them off with bright magical light. Reiko attempted to make contact and the shield broke, and the group was forced to intervene lest they watch the woman get torn apart.
After the battle the group met with the woman, an orc that introduced herself as Kalama. Gaining precious little intelligence from Kalama, Reiko and Dolly offered to share their camp with her and head to the city in the morning.
Doing so, the group infiltrated the encampment with surprising ease, posing as orcs and using a bit of trickery to secure an audience with the Warlord Zo and her leadership council. Determined to make up for the hostilities with the orcs in the north, the group had an intense council during which it was revealed that Kalama was none other than Aliana Skullcrusher, the daughter of Olog and presumably sister of Svetlana Skullcrusher. She holds a particular grudge against the Guild because her lover was captured by Sukemoru Uzuto (and later burned to death in the events of Gone Raidin', though the party did not know that was the case). Desperate to hold off the threat of war, the party offered to perform a task for the warlord, and left in peace to do so, easily crushing a supply convoy of the The Coalition and robbing it blind. Those convoys are apparently quite regular, and could be an easy source of material for the refugees of Roanokae Camp.
Upon the group's return to report their success, Warlord Zo advised that to form a more secure alliance, it would be prudent to pick a figurehead and politick among the tribes to form a new Pact. The group took that under advisement and recalled to First Landing, happy to stave off the political disaster that had loomed.
