Arbus remembers nothing of his past before he woke up in an abandoned temple in the old world, inhabiting an old wooden training dummy. His only memory is of a voice that spoke to him, imparting a mission to preserve nature's balance.
He spent his first years dedicating himself to mastering the skills and stances detailed in the books around him, using the memories of his wooden body. Eventually, the same voice that spoke to him returned, instructing him to restore the balance around him.
Arbus then set out on a journey to protect the land around his home, slaying bandits and those who would dare to desecrate nature's beauty. Slowly, the local inhabitants began to view him as a hero and a threat. Afraid that he would eventually turn on them.
One day the local village decided to attempt to slay Arbus before he could attack them, sending some of their best fighters to set fire to his monastery and forest around him to smoke him out, however, Arbus flew into a rage and destroyed the village. His fists charred by the flame and his hands stained by the blood Arbus set his sites for the new world, seeking to ensure he never makes the same mistake again.
