Loose Threads: Ashissa's plans for the moonflowers, the serpentfolk trying to acquire an egg, what the serpentfolk are doing in 2 months at sunset, the tomb in the desert (might be the one from From the Sands )

Participants: Swampy, Eleanore, Nasdac, Plume, Rhuz.

Locations: Dragon's Tail

Summary

The party set out to clear a moonflower infestation in the Dragon's Tail range. In the process, we uncovered information on future plans by the serpentfolk, in particular that someone called Ashissa has plans for the creatures. We were not able to clear out the area.

Recap (Plume)

The part set out with the goal of clearing out the threat of a moonflower infestation - giant aggressive plants able to reproduce extremely quickly - on Watcher's isle.

As the area is in serpentfolk territory, this resulted in a skirmish in one of their camps. Worryingly, information uncovered on their corpses indicated that a certain Ashissa (presumably another serpentfolk) has plans for them. Worse, a group guarding the area the moonflowers were sighted in let us pass without opposition.

It is unclear what the purpose is. The information found on serpentfolk corpses indicated that the moonflower population was "under control". What, then, could be the purpose of letting people in?

Regardless, we entered the area. A short skirmish with three nascent moonflowers went rather well. An encounter with an adult moonflower, however, proved far more deadly, and almost resulted in a loss. It was eventually defeated, and the part recalled.

A note on moonflowers, for the reference or future guilders: these creatures have a singular drive: to swallow prey and spit them out in a deadly coccoon, that can then grow into a new plant.

They also are able to emit a blinding flash of light, though only every so often.

The moonflower's surface is particularly resistant to piercing and bludgeoning weapons, and the creature's extraordinary healing ability can easily offset what little damage is done.
In contrast, fire is particularly effective against them, and hampers their regeneration.

It is recommended to avoid a close quarters confrontation with an adult moonflower, and to exploit its vulnerabilities to quickly end combat.

A note on new information: what was found at the snakefolk encampment was a map. You can find it here, along with a translation of its various points of interest.

A: On this one a date and time is written, sunset time in about 2 months, but it doesn’t explain more.

B: "A tomb of horrors, stay away no matter what"

C: "Reminder: find something to trade for an egg before they hatch."

D: "Damned ghosts almost ripped out all my blood. Do not approach!"

E: "Spread is mostly contained, but not wiped out yet. Ashissa has plans for them, let her have her fun." - this refers to the moonflowers.
