Beware the hole beneath Blackrose Farmstead.
I have been adventuring with the guild for just about two months now and have witnessed a delightful number of excellent companions and individuals. Few have matched the outsized personality of the small, very loud monkey person, Tsoko Mico. She always had a singular vision and unerring purpose, that being averting the end of the world.
Erica was more subdued, but possessed a superior and unmatched intellect in her own right. She had created the most clever contraption I have seen during my time at the guild, and I would have gloried in her further discoveries and innovations had we not journeyed into that perilous forest that day.
We started by making our way to the entrance, a hole in the ground much like all other holes. But, holes being holes, we had no choice, but to descend.
We were greeted by a sight many would describe as beautiful. I will admit it even arrested me, if only for it’s utter strangeness. The flora was vibrantly colored in strange red hues and the cavern was very a pleasant temperature. All of it were of a type with the surface, just different colors.
After exploring the cavern and traveling around 3000 feet west, we happened upon some Badgers which we quickly dispatched, mostly thanks to some massive magical fire blasts from Tsoko and blasts of electricity from Erica.
We left a couple of them alive and they fled after Clayfang patched up their wounds. Something seemed to be agitating them.
Later, we detected something rushing towards us, but it seemed like it disappeared at the last second, narrowly avoiding it’s own demise. Whatever it was seemed to be a burrowing creature, similar to the Badgers.
After another 1000 ft west we found one edge of the cavern, and some woody plant shredded by animal claws that seemed to have some kind of calming poison on it. It was the only moment Tsoko chose to relax a bit, and that was very welcome.
After traveling between 2000 and 3000 feet north, we found some kind of lair or home territory for the badgers, and thats when things got deadly. These badgers were clearly extremely intelligent. They crept up to us, intending to surprise us, burrowing through the ground, but we were too clever for them by half, and strode into their midst, surprising them with our bravery!
But quickly, they began to savage our intrepid group, and try as we might, our efforts seemed useless against their ferocity. Every time we would seem to strike the killing blow, they would push on for just one more hit. They were also exceptionally angry creatures, feeding on their unholy rage to do even more terrible damage with their hateful teeth.
Quickly, my friend Clayfang was wounded, torn to the ground twice, barely moving. The touch of grandmother crow could only do so much, and after he was revived, he looked at the creatures surrounding him and wisely recalled. I shouted to our friends that it was time to follow our ally, but they were exceptionally brave! They chose to die meaningless deaths of glory and fame, and so they will always have my respect, though they also bear my sorrow. As allies, one could ask for few better, and it is my sincere hope that next time I venture into those warrens, that our enemies quake and fall before us!
