Loose Threads: What exactly was happening at the temple? Was the first Kobold Important? Who killed the giant snake with the ice spell?
Participants: Stanelin Shazorwyn, Tak´asren, Neguth, Coinzell Rotbane
Locations: The Watchers Tribe, Dragon's Tail Mountain
Short Summary: The party, consisting of: Neguth, the Naga Thaumaturge, Tak’asren, the Vishkanya Monk, Coinzell, the Dwarven Alchemist, and myself, Stanelin, a Magus, set out for the northwest to investigate the unsolved Serpentfolk problem.
On our way, we encountered a kobold who told us that the Serpentfolk had imprisoned a naga in the mountains. We headed there and found a cave guarded by five pythons. After taking care of them, we entered the cave and found two Serpentfolk warriors guarding a large metal door at the end of a ruined hallway that appeared to be part of an ancient building now buried under the mountain. The foes proved themselves very hard to beat, but we managed anyway and then we planned a masquerade to disguise Neguth as one of the Serpentfolk and try to take them by surprise. It didn’t work and we fought some kind of serpentfolk priest who almost killed us another time. We discovered a Naga body with an elven head sewn to its… shoulders. This body was also larger than usual. We couldn’t figure out what it was about the ritual we had interrupted. My partners insisted on desecrating the temple, which I did not approve of, but they were three against one. The temple was burned and successfully desecrated, but I persuaded them to take at least a piece of it to the Assembly Tower to preserve and study.
Next we planned an ambush using the statue as bait, but the creatures that came were kobolds, not serpentfolk. They told us that they were attacked nearby and that they were being hunted. We run to the place and find another large snake body in the field surrounded by a bunch of snakes and serpentfolk. We get into a fight again and Neguth has to recall to avoid being killed. We manage to end the fight victoriously and analyze the corpse. It was killed by a spell that created an icicle large enough to leave a hole nearly a foot in diameter in its chest. With weakened forces, we returned to the statue, picked it up and recalled to The First Landing.
