Bilgramid Dolvameg was the legendary drunken adventurer of the Old World. When you spoke of notable drunks, if first came Cayden Cailean, next came Bil. Both lauded and reviled, depending on the tale, Bil's drunken exploits were a popular subject in taverns and guildhalls from tundra to tropics and back. Alcohol was his bane and his nectar, giving him the strength to cleave through hordes despite his advanced age, though he was no stranger to its aftereffects. His most notable trait was his longevity: despite his proclivity for drink and apparent age, nothing seemed able to kill Bil. As of [current year], people still reported sightings of the mercenary, though he seemed to have retired from the public eye.
Abraham Dolvameg is not Bil. Abe was one of an uncountable number of illegitimate children fathered by Bil across his many years, however he alone had the fortune of being recognized (under duress) by his father. Abe inherited his father's extraplanar heritage, sharing his Shackleborn traits as well as more than a few other features. Despite his typical reticence towards his children, Bil took a shine to Abe, and tried to actually be a father for once in his long life. Abe grew up wanting for little, and was raised with the expectation that he'd be a strong warrior like Bil. Abe became a strong fighter, practically raised in taverns with tales of monsters and heroism filling his head. He thirsted for adventure and found it easily, going headlong into danger knowing his dad was there to back him up.
When he came of age, however, Abe became disillusioned with his father. He saw his flaws firsthand, wishing Bil would rise up to be the great man that appeared from time to time instead of the drunken deadbeat that chased his whims to the detriment of himself and those around him. Abe was raised as a Caydenite (his father considering the god "a cool guy"), and still holds a soft spot for Cayden and his people, but was all-too-familiar with the pitfalls of overindulgence. He strove to create his own path separate from his father and the everpresent drink. In his 20s, Abe began following the faith of Calistria, striving to find balance between the things he considered right and the things he considered fun.
He spent several years on his own, working as a guard in a crossroads town for some time. He built his personal code, an offshoot from most Calistrians: Be free and seek thrills, but have a little temperance. Law and authority, much like advice from your elders, is often based in reason, so give them some consideration. Enjoy life, whether that's people, drink, or adventure, but don't let them consume you. If you're wronged, try to right it fairly.
In [current year], Abe heard of the portal to the New World. Despite everything, his father's shadow still stood tall over him. Abe reasoned that the best way to get away from Bilgramid Dolvameg's influence was to go somewhere he'd never been heard of. That may have been a long shot, but another world had to have pretty good odds. At worst, he'd likely find his fill of adventure anyway.
