Backstory

Adzul is a Matanji Orc from the Mwangi Expanse on Golarion.

While Adzul deeply respected his demon-hunting kin, that type of hunt never appealed to him. Though living in the Matanji culture he did learn a great deal about the wild, demons (of course), survival and moving throughout it. He is also graced with the talon scars by both eyes received shortly before he left Nine Walls.

Adzul holds many interests. A fact that baffled both his parents growing up. His parents were capable merchants in Nine Walls, just they never determined why their son in particular could easily bounce between topics with surprising ease.

The decision was made and allowance was given to Adzul for study at the Rainkin Academy among his dromaar/half-orc peers. While he learned much about magic, he never became a practitioner himself. But he easily sat in with his spellcasting friends talking over the finer points of Occult and Arcane magic. It was here he learned Jotun. Though people thought it weird for him to study this language and not Abyssal. As always, Adzul didn't always follow what others did.

With all this knowledge and experience under his belt, what was the young Adzul to do? While he felt he learned all he might at home so it was time to set out into the wider world.

Adzul spent two years among the Alijae near Nagisa. Now of course, they were just as devoted to the hunt of demons which did not particularly interest Adzul. Who he did meet was a young Alijae warrior who he had a romantic relationship with. Through these two years, he refined his skills with weapons for combat alongside what he learned for hunting. But time ticked over and Adzul found himself on the move again.

This led him to the metropolis of Katapesh. And this is where Adzul felt himself come alive. The bustling streets, the variety of different peoples passing through, and the warm dry weather. Through a bit of misunderstanding, argument over coin and inevitably reconciliation over a shared love of knowledge Adzul met his mentor and employer Saabir. Saabir was an experienced bounty hunter who easily recognized the right student to take under his wing.

While Adzul was taught previously how to fight properly, Saabir taught him how to fight with recognition and knowledge. For the next five years, Adzul and Saabir were a successful tandem. Much of their work was done for the Zephyr Guard of the metropolis. Their work sometimes taking them out into the desert or plains of Katapesh itself. Adzul had to flee Katapesh after Saabir ran afoul of one too many elites of the city. Saabir was found assassinated in his sleep and Adzul fled before he might suffer the same fate.
