She-Who-Lays-Among-The-Jagged-Rocks-And-Feeds-The-Wandering-Crabs-As-They-Scuttle-Past-Her

She was born in darkness. For years of her life, the only light she had seen was the bioluminescent flashes of her family, her friends, and the rest of the scarce life around her home village in the crushing depths of the Abyss. It was a peaceful existence, but signs of the outside would occasionally invade her home - bits and baubles of flotsam and jetsam which may have been discarded off passing ships, or lost overboard in naval combat. She would gather these trinkets and study them, cataloguing them all in her notes. Her appetite for knowledge of this outside world grew over stronger the more she collected. Eventually, she made the decision that remaining in the depths would no longer suffice for her studies, she would have to ascend to the waves and the light of the sun in order to study this world first hand. And so she did.

Her first few orders of business (after freaking out about how bright it all was) was to secure a means of transportation to the dry world. Dry - the concept itself seemed so alien to her. Now that she was ambulatory, the world was her oyster, and she was going to shuck it. She quickly realized that her given name, which in Thalassic would loosely translate as "She-Who-Lays-Among-The-Jagged-Rocks-And-Feeds-The-Wandering-Crabs-As-They-Scuttle-Past-Her" was nearly unpronounceable by members of different ancestries. No matter - eventually, as she secures friends in this strange new world, surely they'll find a nickname to call her.
