Kariyah Qeyella - Background

Kariyah hails from Chu Ye in Tian Xia. She never knew her parents, or which of the two was the full-blooded oni and which was the human. Nor was her life easy enough to be able to dwell on such things. It could be said to be one of her blessings, albeit one heavily in disguise.

Her other, more obvious blessing, was her talent for battle and warfare. She was talented enough from a young age to earn a living killing her employers' enemies, but evidently she was not talented enough to earn the favour of Chu Ye's wealthy.

While she enjoyed the endless fights, they were becoming tedious. She wasn't improving as fast as she used to, and she longed to fight ever-greater enemies. While there were undercurrents of rebellion brewing, it might take years for anything to happen in the nation. Even then, would she gain the excitement she wished?

Then she learnt of the Portal to the New World. A place with fewer shackles keeping her down. So she left Chu Ye, left Tian Xia, and left the Old World behind.
