Full Report

Imma be the bearer of bad news: this is a bit out of our league.

This all started at the gate of First Landing, where we witnessed the death of a Guild's courier arriving to the city from Winterpost, holding a lunar lantern and a masquerade mask, due to Euphorsyne intoxication, a psionic counterpart of laughing gas/nitrous ether, causing Harn a gory death of laughter. The man also carried a note that looked one or two years old, with the following contents:

"gods above help me they're flying up laughing endless laughing I can't get away fast enough the sky is full of lights and there are voices in my head singing my name
I think I looked too long. where am i there are faces in the sky in the lanterns staring at me and smiling the road seems to twist and turn I don't think I'm getting out of this"

However, we found something weird with the date of the note (written two days ago from the courier's death, instead of years as the state of the paper would hint), so it might be connected to the Loom thing in the missive with those time shenanigans. Worth looking into and investigating.

Either way, in our investigation about the laughing gas, we arrived to Aster's Aromatics and Vapors, who explained us that she sold nitrous ether to a performing trope 4 months ago and directed us to one of colleagues, Merrin Thalor, in the outskirts of Evenfall, capital of Avilion, the Golden Barony, who was more experienced with Euphorsyne. This troupe might be connected to what happened in Winterpost

We traveled through Avilion without much trouble, well, not really. Supposedly, the rest of the party saw in the forest strange apples and the trees watching at us. Something along the lines of 'smiling apples', apples that appear sweet from afar and rotten from close, and stuff like that. Eleanore said that the trees were moving, and Sablette heard some kind of song in the distance. Very weird. We also found a trap in a lake with four horse illusions made by a Fey, which we confronted but ended on a stalemate. Location is marked in the attached map for future travels.

Must say, Evenfall is really pretty. Well was. You must have good sunglasses unless you want to get blinded, tho. Our conversation with Merrin Thalor revealed us that Avilion suffered the same courier incident from Winterpost, giving us an alkali to neutralise the Euphorsyne.

Then, on our way back, we heard a laugh. Pixies with the same gory laugh began flooding Evenfall, holding masquerade masks. And in the middle of the chaos, a chained jester flies down from the sky. They seemed to effortlessly be able to change the terrain to suit the 'stage' of the story they wanted to tell, and, not gonna lie, we got our ass kicked in the fight, recalling with no casualties.

“The joke has begun. The audience is gathered.”

Alkali recipe: lilac and water heated over a potassium permanganate flame in an open flame such that the smoke can infuse the liquid.
