Short Summary: Searching for some lich-knowledge, and definitely not how to become one, we returned to a nearly forgotten site where the Gwyddfa can be found, near Ubekawa's Reach. Place was abandoned, safe for an ooze-like creature made of corpses of undead. Back-trailing their path lead us to a lake with a tower peeking out of the water. Protected by a Thunderbird and some Rocs, we fought our way in. Inside we found a Lich, who was rather protective of his turf.

Full report

I have been looking for knowledge recently, and my sight was turned towards liches. They're known, among other things, for their natural hunger for knowledge, and I was hoping to uncover some of their secrets by following in the steps of one of the Liches known to the Guild - undead Halfling Merry.
Though she was somewhat recently destroyed, and her fortress investigated, I was hoping to search for some hidden passageway leading to a secret laboratory, however Aeonrei offered an alternative.

We left for the Gwyddfa - some distance East off of Unekawa's Reach there are ruins where once a magical artifact containing many undead was built. Last checked by the Guild, it was cleared off the undead, and now lay mostly dormant, though its magic still remains, allowing one skilled in the arcane crafts to glimpse knowledge. Now, once we reached the place, the ruins have been resealed for an unknown amount of time. Readying for danger, we unsealed the ruins, and what we encountered was a rather gruesome display. A sort of ooze-like form made of flesh, apparently belonging to half-drowned undead. Upon unsealing the entrance, the thing attacked.
Once destroyed, we concluded that undead must've been coming to this place for a while, mangling and mixing in the sealed room, sent from somewhere.

Information found in the Gwyddfa lead us where the undead were coming from. From outside it looked like not much more than ruins of a tower just barely peeking from below the surface of the lake. In any other case it would be easily dismissed as a missed mark. However, we were certain. What we were not certain about was the presence of an oversized nest, eggs within it, apparently missing parents. Rather than wait for their return, we took the chance, hoping to enter the tower before they return.

As anticipated, we did not, in fact, made it into the tower in time.

Parents turned out to be a Thunderbird and several Rocs. Not a pleasant meeting, but ultimately we managed to make our way in. Worth noting that we did not, in fact, kill the Thunderbird, merely hid away inside the tower.

Inside we found, well, a Lich. Not a friendly one, or even a talkative one, just one to initiate fight immediately on sight.
Beside the Lich there was also a dragon there, raised into a zombified form, but it was a rather insignificant threat.
Lich took some more time to fight, but we ultimately managed to destroy him, Soul Cage included.
