The melding virus is a viral pathogen that generally infects human hosts. The pathogen seems to be carried by a few non dominant species of fish. It infiltrates human cells, where it reproduces and takes them over. Infected cells function as normal but become extremely maleable and can even attach to non organic materials. There are two strains: "A" and "B". Melding virus "A" is mostly harmless. A severe case of it will result in a leaf or two being permanently attached and integrated to the skin, which can be solved by surgery or left alone with no complications. It is technically considered anomalous, but is so mild that neither secret societies nor the FSRD really care. Strain "B", however, has rare outbreaks that have to be contained.
