Horses are large herbivorous mammals that belong to the family Equidae. They have long legs, a muscular body, a mane on the neck, and a long tail. Horses are domesticated animals that have been used by humans for transportation, work, sports, and recreation for thousands of years. They can run fast, jump high, and communicate with each other through sounds and body language. As with other Old World species, horses were introduced by trade (primarily with Malay sailors) around the year 1000 CE. However, their niche had already been partially filled in by the local Klongen.
Throughout six centuries of inhabiting Oceanyka, numerous breeds have been imported, and others have developed indigenously, such as the feral Brumby or the Australian Pony. However, the two most useful for a would-be rider would be the extremely hardy Waler, employed by the Australian Light Horse Regiments during World War I, and the more common Australian Stockhorse, untiring and well-fitted for daily manual work.
