King Culhun is a semi-mythical historical figure, said to have been the monarch of a realm located in what is now Jupiter Forest. According to mainstream history, Morlon of Toffia declared him as the manifestation of an ancient and evil entity, of Culhun, and went to war with him. The Battle of Jupiter Forest, according to Asterist myth, was a pyrrhic victory, as its objective was achieved at the cost of the warrior-king's near-death. The traditional version of this story in Dreamtime lore is that, though an excellent fighter, leader and magician, the Son of Aster was completely outmatched by a being that was empyrean in nature. He begged his deity for aid; this call was answered by Eingana, the Rainbow Serpent, who banished Culhun from Earth. Regardless, it is agreed upon that Morlon won the battle and razed whichever realm had existed at that location to the ground, though he died from his wounds shortly after.
But those who know of Oceanyka's secret history know better. They know that King Culhun was a Lich King, the last of his kind, and the last of the Magocrats. Born a mortal man, he was raised as a sorcerer, and eventually set upon to carving his realm as a Necromancer King. Through years of study and experimentation, he came upon a method to gain immortality, and performed an arduous ritual, becoming an undead Lich King. However, unsatisfied with eternal life, he also sought infinite power, but his soul was overpowered from beyond the void, inviting Culhun himself into realspace as an Eldritch Creature 👾. Had it not been for the timely intervention of Morlon of Toffia, it is possible that the sun would have set over the Oceanykan continent one last time. For the Cult of Culhun, he was a saint and a martyr.
