Rifled Slug

Slugs are solid projectiles fired from large bore shotguns. Brenneke and Foster types are the most common and mostly the same by design, consisting of a large lead projectile with "ribs" which provide a degree of rifling and are swaged or folded by the shotgun's choke. The energy imparted by shotgun slugs is enormous, especially when paired with magnum powder loads.
