Saboted slugs have the same damage profile as Rifled Slug, including its Easy DM to hit rolls performed at up to Short Range (SR), but with the following advantages:
- +1 PEN (2 PEN)
- +1 Range Increment (Short Range (SR) -> Average Range (AR))
Rifled shotguns work better with slugs which are encased in a plastic sabot, which spins through the barrel and disintegrates upon exiting it. Saboted slugs approach the accuracy of a low-calibre rifle with the muzzle energy of a .308 bullet, though much greater stopping power. Additionally, they typically contain a hard core made of copper, bronze, iron or mild steel.
