The Berezin UB is a 12.7x108mm Soviet heavy machinegun developed by Mikhail E. Berezin in the 1930s, used extensively during World War II. Known for its robust design and high rate of fire, the Berezin UB could fire up to 1,050 RPM, making it highly effective against enemy aircraft and lightly armoured vehicles. It was employed in various Soviet aircraft, including the famous Yakovlev Yak-9 and Ilyushin IL-2. The UB series included variants such as the UBT (turret-mounted), UBS (wing-mounted), and UBK (synchronized), each optimized for different applications. In contemporary Oceanyka, Berezin UBs are occasionally preferred over more common heavy machineguns such as the AN/M3 Browning due to the higher firepower of the Russian .50 cartridge.
