Ruins of the Great Dividing Range

The western half of the Great Dividing Range saw a great deal of human colonisation during the Second Empire's time, as its fertile valleys provided a new source of agricultural produce, while its cliffs and caves contained ores and precious stones ready for extraction. During the Ferozen Invasion it was this region's kingdoms that put up the fiercest resistance, as the attackers would have to pass through treacherous terrain to reach their mountain dwellings. Unable to conquer the region, many Ferozen warlords were content with asking these peoples for tribute, while others chose to ignore them completely.

While the great architectural feats of the Aboriginal empires and kingdoms were razed down for the most part, those along the Great Dividing Range remained. Most of them are now abandoned, as changing climate patterns made the Range's valleys less attractive to live in. Furthermore, these remnants of the Second Empire were gradually defeated by the Range's other two dominant cultures; the early Montagnards and the Zermans.

These ruins make perfect locations for lairs and stashes due to their isolation. Furthermore, every once in a while a new tunnel passage is discovered leading to previously unknown tombs, sanctuaries and dormitories, filled with archeological treasure. On multiple occasions, even Precursor artifacts have been found within these places, back then objects of divine worship.
