A surgical stapler, or medical stapler, is an instrument that allows stapling together tissues for results similar to stitching (but less effective). Their invention in the first decade of the 20th century was a decent success, but in Oceanyka it was a (literal) lifesaver. They are usually made of silver, while the staples themselves are sterilised steel. While most modern medics carry a stitching kit, Oceanykan medics also carry a surgical stapler. This is because Oceanykan casualties are usually high and require immediate treatment, which a stitching kit cannot fulfill. Staplers can close a wound much faster temporarily, just enough to keep fighting for a few more minutes.
