The cinnamon tree is a tropical evergreen tree cultivated for its inner bark, which is used to produce cinnamon spice. Cultivation requires a warm and humid climate, well-drained soil, and regular rainfall. The bark is harvested by carefully peeling away the outer layers, revealing the inner bark that is rich in essential oils and flavour compounds. This inner bark is then dried and either used whole or ground into a fine powder to create cinnamon spice. The tree's distinctive aromatic and flavourful qualities arise from its essential oil content. Cinnamon trees began to be planted across Oceanyka in the 1200s, introduced by Indian traders.
