The Nakajima Sakae is a Japanese air-cooled radial engine that was widely used in World War II. Developed by the Nakajima Aircraft Company, the Sakae engine series powered a range of aircraft, most notably the Mitsubishi A6M "Zero" fighter. With its distinctive round shape, the Sakae provided power outputs ranging from around 950 to 1,130 hp. Its compact size and ruggedness made it suitable for various aircraft roles, including naval fighters and reconnaissance planes. Most of these engines were destroyed during the Allied occupation of Japan, though thousands were sold off by the MacArthur administration to Oceanyka's airmen, many of which had fought the "Zero" during WW2 - Operation Minamikaze and were gleeful to get their hands on such an engine.
